I am a twenty-one year old senior from a small San Francisco suburb. I have a great family and grew up surrounded in a creative environment. My mother is a designer and ever since I was a little girl I would go into her studio to draw, paint, and design clothes and accessories. Her at-home studio is like a crafters candy store. Every imaginable craft, tool, and supply is there. I was always encouraged to come in to create and experiment with her supplies after school. It was my special place where I could create anything I imagined.
I was also lucky to have some experience travelling to Europe as a teenager. I saw different styles, went to different museums and studied in Italy for a summer. However, nothing was as life altering as going to FIT. Moving far from my family into one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the world exposed me to much more then the world of high-end fashion. Here I learned so much more about design and was able to intern at various design houses, which confirmed my passion to become a footwear designer.
